Who we are
Capy is an empathy-learning platform for children aged 8–12. The service is accessible at capy.vu. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@capy.vu.
What data we collect
- Parent account: email address and password (stored by Supabase Auth).
- Child profiles: first name and age. We do not collect surnames, photos, or any identifying information about children.
- Session responses: text transcriptions of your child's answers to empathy questions. These are used to generate progress reports visible only to you.
- Voice recordings: voice is recorded briefly and sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription only. The audio is not stored on our servers at any point.
- Usage data: which sessions were completed, scores, and timestamps — used for progress tracking.
- Payment data: in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store card numbers.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: track progress, generate reports, and run the companion (Capy).
- To send you optional weekly progress emails (you can stop these by contacting us).
- We do not sell data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except the processors listed below.
Third-party processors
- Supabase — database and authentication (EU region).
- OpenAI — voice transcription (Whisper) and answer analysis (GPT). Audio is not retained. Text is processed per OpenAI's API data policy.
- Apple — in-app purchase processing.
- RevenueCat — purchase validation and entitlement management.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
Children's privacy
We take children's privacy seriously. Child profiles contain only a first name and age. We do not collect email addresses from children. Parents have full visibility and control over their child's data via the dashboard. To delete a child's data, contact us at hello@capy.vu.
Data retention
Session data and progress are kept as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of all your data at any time by emailing hello@capy.vu. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at hello@capy.vu to exercise any of these rights.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie (
sb-access-token) to keep you signed in. No third-party tracking cookies are used.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will notify you by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
